A rich and creamy macaroni and cheese recipe loaded with crispy bacon.
Ingredients

- 1 pound elbow macaroni
- 1/2 pound bacon, chopped
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
Instructions
- Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook bacon until crisp. Remove bacon and drain on paper towels, reserving 2 tablespoons of bacon grease.
- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until thickened.
- Stir in salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Remove from heat and stir in cheddar and Gruyere cheeses until melted and smooth.
- Add cooked macaroni and stir to coat.
- Stir in cooked bacon.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For an extra cheesy flavor, add a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese on top before serving.
- You can use a variety of cheeses like Monterey Jack or Colby Jack.
