Description

A simple and satisfying skillet dish featuring meatballs baked with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, milk, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  4. Arrange the meatballs in a single layer in a 10-inch oven-safe skillet.
  5. Pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs.
  6. Cover the skillet with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and top the meatballs and sauce with the sliced mozzarella cheese.
  8. Return the skillet to the oven, uncovered, and bake for another 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the meatballs are cooked through.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meatball mixture.
  • Serve with crusty bread for dipping.
