Description

A simple and flavorful side dish featuring sweet peas and savory pancetta.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 ounces pancetta, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 pound frozen peas
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add pancetta and cook until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove pancetta with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the rendered fat in the skillet.
  3. Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  4. Add frozen peas and water to the skillet. Cover and cook until peas are tender, about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in the cooked pancetta.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can use butter instead of olive oil.
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a touch of heat.
  • Fresh peas can be used; blanch them for 2-3 minutes before adding to the skillet.
