Description
A classic side dish of spinach cooked in a creamy sauce.
Ingredients

- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 shallot, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 10 ounces fresh spinach, washed and tough stems removed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add shallot and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Add spinach to the skillet in batches, stirring until it wilts.
- Pour in heavy cream and bring to a simmer.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce thickens slightly.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
- Add a pinch of nutmeg for an extra layer of flavor.
- You can use frozen spinach; thaw and squeeze out excess water before adding to the skillet.
